3. Sonoma County Hot Air Balloon Classic
After last year’s event was cancelled due to smoky skies caused by wildfires in the Sierras, the Balloon Classic is back to celebrate its 20th anniversary. You have to be an early riser to catch the action – lift-off is scheduled for 5 a.m. June 13 and 14 at Keiser Park in Windsor. But the payoff is the glorious if not outright inspiring sight of dozens of colorful (and occasionally anthropomorphic) hot air balloons majestically rising into the dawn of a new day. Tickets are $5 in advance; $8 at the gate; $5 for kids 6-12; free for kids under 6. You’ll find the park at 700 Windsor River Road or check it out online at www.schabc.org.
